At
Grier Furr & Crisp, PA, we believe that a law firm should
not try to be all things to all clients, but rather should
endeavor to develop proficiency in limited areas, and then
offer that expertise to its clients. This limited focus allows
the firm to be particularly responsive to its clients' needs
while reducing the cost of providing legal services. The
firm engages in the following areas of practice:

Estate
Planning and Probate
The
firm's estate planning practice emphasizes a one-on-one, individualized
approach to analyzing and implementing a client's estate plan,
with a particular emphasis on sophisticated tax planning for
high net worth individuals. Firm attorneys carefully review
the unique situations presented by each client and then recommend
an estate plan that is financially sound and tax-efficient
while also taking into account qualitative concerns such as
family dynamics, intergenerational wealth transfer, and planning
for individuals with incapacities.
Our
probate practice focuses primarily on the representation of
personal representatives, assisting with the preparation and
submission of court documents, federal and state tax returns,
insurance claims, and retirement benefits. We also represent
estate beneficiaries in a variety of matters.
Commercial
Real Estate
The
firm has broad experience in the area of commercial real estate,
offering counsel on such matters as commercial property acquisition
and disposition, leasing, financing, tax issues, land use
planning, and form of ownership issues. Our services include
representing individuals and families in the acquisition and
sale of commercial real estate.
Bankruptcy
and Workouts
The firm represents parties in connection with troubled businesses, both in and out of bankruptcy, in liquidation, and in reorganization. The firm's clients include distressed businesses,
principals of businesses, business officers and directors, creditors, adverse parties in litigation, and Chapter 7 and Chapter 11 bankruptcy trustees. The firm limits its bankruptcy debtor
representations to those of business clients or individuals whose debts consist primarily of business-related debts.
Representative Clients:
-
The firm's bankruptcy practice group represents both local and national clients in a variety of industries, including insurance, hotels, restaurants, textiles, furniture, manufacturing, retail
sales, real estate development, housing and trucking.
Commercial
Litigation
When
practicable, the firm's commercial litigation practice strives
to resolve matters prior to the trial stage, whether through
settlement, arbitration, or mediation. When trial is in the
best interest of our clients, however, the firm's attorneys
stand ready to represent zealously the best interests of our
clients at all levels of state and federal court.
